3 Ingredient DIY Carpet Freshener
Let me start by saying I DO NOT like carpet. My dream home would not have a single square of carpet in it, maybe a rug or two, but no carpet! However, the house we live in currently does have some carpet. With two dogs and a 15 month old it’s a daily struggle to keep the carpet clean and smelling fresh. Of course, my Roomba is a life saver, keeping me from having to vacuum daily but I use this carpet freshener once a week to give my carpet (and house) new life.
What you will need:
- 2 cups of Baking Soda
- Lavender scented Pure-Castile Bar Soap
- 10 drops of lemon essential oil
- Mason jar or other container to store
Start by grating the Castile Bar Soap and use your hands to mix it up a little more. It comes out in spirals so mixing it up more just makes it easier for the vacuum to pick it up. I use about 1/2 cup of grated soap but it all depends on how strong you want your scent to be. Mix with baking soda, add about 10 drops of essential oil and store in mason jar. When ready to use, sprinkle on top of carpet and let sit for 10 minutes. Vacuum up when done and leave your carpet fresh and smelling wonderful!
